Hard Disk Failure? ليست نهاية العالم

قبل فترة أصيب القرص الصلب "هارد ديسك" بجهاز الكمبيوتر الخاص بي بالمنزل فجأة بالشلل ولم يعد يعمل, وبالطبع وكأي عارض صحي يحدث لأي جهاز, فإن هناك علامات تبدا بالظهور قبل ذلك بفترة, كبطئ الجهاز مثلا, أو سماع أصوات غريبة من القرص حين يقوم الحاسب بقراءة محتوياته, ثم يتطور الأمر لتجمد الجهاز فجأة وعدم الأستجابة لأي شي, أو كما حصل لي, ظهور الشاشة الزرقاء "بلو سكرين أوف ديث" لأكثر من مرة

لحسن الحظ إن هذا القرص كان هو القرص الذي يحتوي على نظام التشغيل فقط "ماي برايماري بوت درايف" ولا يحتوي على اية ملفات أو بيانات أحتاجها, حيث أن هناك قرصا صلبا آخر بالجهاز, وهو الذي احتفظ به بكل الأمور المهمة, بالإضافة لقرص صلب خارجي "ماكستور ميني درايف" يحتوي على نسخة أخرى من ملفاتي

ولهذا كان كل ما فعلته هو شراء قرص صلب جديد, ولكنني لم أستخدمه لنظام التشغيل لعدة أسباب

The capacity for this drive is 160GB, which is far too much as an operating system drive, and all what I needed was a 40 or 60 GB drive, and though partioning the drive would be then solution for some people, but that would not hide the fact that even with partitiong, it's still a "One Big physical Drive", which means performance problems plus no fault tolerance

The other disk which i use as a second drive, which contains my data and files, is relatively old, since I bought it 2 years ago, and according to my monitoring software, It does not have any kind of problems "yet", and it could live for few more years, but I can't afford losing my data, and I guess 2 years is enough for it , and it needs to retire, and the best retirement plan for it is to make it a primary drive, and the new one would replace it as a Data drive, or what I call it Repository drive.

When you face a hard disk failure scenario, especially when you have a lot of data that have not been backed up on any other media, you get frustrated and pissed off, and start blame it on the cat, sa7?

Actually there are several ways to "TRY" to recover your data, some might work, some might not, but it worth trying them before throwing away the drive

1) Take the drive out of it's bay, shake it for few second, or minutes, and then install it again and try to see If it is accessible, If yes, then quickly copy all what you need form it to another media

2) Try to put the drive in the Fridge for few minutes, and again QUICKLY attach it to the PC and try to access it, actually this technique worked for me few years back with my old IBM Thinkpad notebook drive

هناك طريقة آخرى, ولكنني لا أنصح بها إلا إن فشلت الطريقتان أعلاه, وقبل إلقاء القرص بالقمامة, وهي محاولة إزالة الغطاء من القرص الصلب واستخدام إحدى عبوات البخاخ المستخدم لتنظيف الأجهزة الإلكترونية, وهو متوفر بالأسواق, ورش هذا البخاخ مستخدما "النوزل" المرافق له على جميع الأجزاء الداخلية, خصوصا رؤوس القراءة والأجزاء الميكانيكية, ثم وبسرعة ومن دون قفل الغطاء, توصيل القرص للجهاز ومحاولة تجربة القراءة منه, وهذه الطريقة نجحت معي مرة واحدة فقط من بين خمس أو ست محاولات أجريتها سابقا لاجهزة اشخاص آخرين
